Sometimes you need someone outside your personal circle to help you discover a different perspective on your life situation. Someone that can ask you the right questions to help you dig a little deeper to find more clarity and discover new possibilities on how to tackle difficulties in life.
My background lies in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and its new generations like Acceptance Commitment Therapy. These approaches have shown great results in dealing with depression, anxiety, stress and/or burn-out. Besides this, I love to use an integrated holistic approach to guide you into living a healthier and happier life. This means that I also use breathwork, meditation and constellations to uncover unhelpful patterns. Together, we look at developing healthy patterns and making decisions that suit your personal needs and contribute to your fulfilment and inner happiness.
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This approach has been extensively researched and shown to be very effective for behavioural change and developing alternative thought patterns. This approach is currently used worldwide to help people deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, burn-out, stress and improving peoples mental health and wellbeing. This theory was founded in the sixties by Dr. Aaron T. Beck. CBT is also extremely suitable for E-health. During recent developments, CBT now also has a Low Intensity CBT variant, or LI-CBT. These modules can also easily be delivered over the phone or online. Besides face to face therapy at my practice in Valencia, I also offer an online module for dealing with Depression in my 10 week Low Intensity CBT Program.
ACT stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This is a newer approach, also called the 3rd wave of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You could say that it's a modern version of CBT. ACT is not specifically developed to treat mental heath diagnoses but is a so called transdiagnostic intervention. Meaning it is applied to more than one condition, it focusses on the process and its delivery is more flexible and less structured.
ACT also helps to generally create a more happy and fulfilled life by increasing your psychological flexibility. The focus is on developing more awareness of the self, living more consciously and in line with your own values. ACT was founded in the eighties by Steven C. Hayes. His approach added slightly different techniques to CBT and is based on 6 pillars. They are; acceptance, defusion, the self as context, mindfulness, focus on values and commitment to what is.
If you would like to know more about ACT, don't hesitate to contact me or ask me about my workshop on discovering your values to get a taste of this form of therapy!
As a therapist, I have been helping people dealing with all kind of difficulties in their lives. However, you are more than than your struggles. You are unique! I find it very important to look at you as a person, a whole unique person. Whether you want to learn to deal with depression, anxiety or just want to feel better, happier, learn to relax, etc. Everyone, at some stage in their lives would benefit from some form of therapy or coaching. Everyone has a blind spot and it's never too late to learn new things.
I love working on the cutting edge of scientific interventions and integrative holistic interventions. This means, besides the traditional forms of therapy as explained above, I also provide integrated holistic form of coaching for improving the self. This form of coaching combines the modern approaches such as CBT and ACT with more traditional methods of connecting to your inner self through body focused work. Here we focus on achieving a better sense of self and on developing awareness to make more conscious decisions that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life.
